IMPORTANT: This tool is designed to estimate the potential savings when enabling Azure NetApp Files storage with cool access. Your actual savings will vary depending on several factors. These factors may include, but are not limited to:
-
actual size of data marked as "cold"
-
duration of data movement to the cool tier
-
actual size of data read back from the cool tier
How does Azure NetApp Files storage with cool access lower my storage costs?
Using Azure NetApp Files storage with cool access, you can configure inactive data to move from Azure NetApp Files Standard, Premium, or Ultra service-level storage to an Azure storage account (the cool tier). In doing so, data blocks that have not been accessed for some time will be kept and stored in the cool tier, resulting in cost savings.
There are network transfer fees as data moves to and from the cool tier.
Maximum cost savings are reached once data tiering is complete and a steady state is achieved.
Instructions / Help
Begin by entering the amount of data you have stored today and on which tier.
Use the sliders to adjust the following parameters:
What percentage of this data is considered cool or infrequently accessed? How much data do you expect to move to the cool tier? The higher the the value, the more you'll save.
After how many days should this data be considered cool? Select a value between 2 and 183, this represents the number a days your data needs to be unaccessed before being moved to the cool tier.
Per month, what percentage of this cool data are you likely to retrieve? How much data are you likely to retrieve back from the cool tier to the hot tier? The higher the value, the higher the potential network transfer fees.
