Azure Database for MySQL Contributor initiative


The Azure Database for MySQL Contributor initiative is designed to recognize members of the Azure Database for MySQL community who actively work to share Azure MySQL-related content, announcements, and product news via social media channels.

Ranging in expertise and engagement level, MySQL contributors include:

  • MySQL community members and influencers.
  • Azure Database for MySQL users and customers.
  • Microsoft MVPs and partners.
  • Microsoft internal team members.

Despite this breadth of experience, Azure MySQL contributors have a common goal — to help others connect and expand their knowledge of Azure Database for MySQL.

Why should I be part of the Azure Database for MySQL Contributor initiative?

Because you're enthusiastic about Azure Database for MySQL and helping others to learn and do more with the service, that’s why! As a contributor, you’ll join efforts with other, like-minded database professionals to create valuable content and video assets, and then amplify them via a variety of social media channels.

What's expected of contributors?

From sharing our social media posts to appearing in a Live Webinar, there are a variety of levels you can work toward, as described in the following table.

Level Activities* Badge
Level I - Gold

To receive the Gold Contributor badge, candidates need to:

To receive the Emerald Contributor badge, candidates need to:

Level III - Platinum

To receive the Platinum Contributor badge, candidates need to:

  • Complete Gold and Emerald Contributor badge activities, AND one of the activities listed below:
  • Develop technical content between July 2023 and June 2024 related to Azure Database for MySQL and share it with us at adbmysqlcontributor@microsoft.com (examples of technical content include a reference architecture, code sample, tutorial, how-to guide, or demo video) OR
  • Create (if existing, then drive) an in-person or virtual Azure Database for MySQL user group or community.

Note: Microsoft may reach out to Platinum Contributors to collaborate.

*Microsoft reserves the right to change the participation requirements. Microsoft will review and validate your efforts and issue the corresponding contributor badge via Credly within five (5) business days from date of submission. You can receive one badge for each Contributor level and a maximum of three badges.




How do I apply?

To join the Azure Database for MySQL Contributor initiative and collect your badge, use the following simple steps!

  1. Read through the What's expected of contributors? section above.
  2. Identify the contributor level that you'd like to work toward, and then just start (or continue) engaging!
  3. After you've completed the activities associated with any contributor level, select the Collect your badge > button below.
  4. In the form that opens, provide your name, email address, social handle, participation level, and details of the results of your efforts.
  5. After we review and validate your efforts, you'll be able to collect your exclusive badge from Credly and add it to your social media account!
